Another one…

I have a lot of catching up to do today… laundry, uh, well, mostly laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. And my kids have their first Science Fair today! I’m looking forward to attending that. Maybe I should make them a special snack? ANY WAYS, here’s my latest…

Gotta run!
Hope you have a splendiferous day!

A little late for Valentines

Well, not for me… especially since I have 7 years worth of photos sitting on my computer. I’m gleeful to have my Valentines pictures scrapped before tax day! :-D I actually didn’t use a sketch for this one. Memory Mixer has a bunch of photo layouts that you can pick from. I just grabbed a simple 2 photo layout and added enough stuff around the pictures to make it look like it was a work in progress (kind of like the photos!).

You’ll notice my sweetie girl coloring with her head resting on the table. Shortly after I took the picture we discovered she had a temperature of 102! Poor thing missed out on the Valentine’s day party at school. But she still got the Valentines. :-)

Have a “sweet” day.

Sledding

Keeping the momentum going. :-) These are the last of my January photos that I have to scrapbook. I used this layout to get me started, again from Hero Arts.

All the backgrounds and embellishments I’ve been using so far have come from the starter kits that came with the software I ordered. There are a ton of examples of scrapbook pages at the Memory Mixer web site. I believe that most of them are made using the Kits they have available to purchase.

I’m off! Hope you have a splendid Monday!

More Digital fun

Oof I’m glad these 2 pages are done. I searched for a 2 photo layout and hard a hard time finding ones that would work. A lot of sketches had 1 horizontal picture and one vertical picture, but I had 2 horizontal pictures. I finally found one I liked at Scrapbook Sketches by Scrapiopath. Now mine doesn’t look anything like the sketch. But often times I just need someone to show me the first step and then I’m off runnin’!

Here are my 2 pages…

Again, SO MUCH FUN!!! I don’t know why I didn’t think about going digital sooner. :-)
Until the next post…

It arrived…

… on Wednesday! I installed it and then didn’t get a chance to play with it. I did, however, get a chance to tinker with my new software yesterday. I absolutely LOVE it! It’s everything the Demos and Tutorials said it would be!!!

I’m not very good at throwing my own pages together and often need to find a sketch. So I headed on over to Hero Arts (one of my favorite sites) to browse through their Gallery. I really liked this example…

After tinkering around I came up with this…

2009-p001

Granted it’s not as embellished or flowery as the example. However, being that there are 3 guys in the picture I figured I would keep it more simple. :-)

Well, I’m off. I, um, didn’t do a whole lot of stuff around the house yesterday ’cause, um, I was fiddling around on my computer. There are laundry piles calling my name!!! I should have more to share with you tomorrow though.

Have a wonderful day!

I got one!

Hello to anyone who might be out there wondering if I’ve given up on my blog. :-) I’ve been busy with so many things… too many things. In my spare moments I’ve been researching digital scrapbooking software, and let me tell ya, it was not supposed to be this hard! I told you in my previous post that I was experimenting with iscrapbook for mac. In that particular software I was struggling with the photo editing part. After days of trying to figure the thing out, I decided to continue my search.

I heard that Photo Shop was the way to go. Looked at the price tag on that an totally freaked out. Then a couple of people suggested Photo Shop Elements. They had a free demo so I downloaded it. Now I consider myself to be pretty computer savvy. But dang, I couldn’t figure that out either. Nothing against either of these companies or their products. And maybe I had too high of expectations. But when I sit down to scrapbook, I don’t want it to be hard. :-o

There were a few others that I stumbled across in my process and nothing seemed to be tripping my trigger. That is until I discovered Memory Mixer. It was love at first sight! I’ve been waiting until the beginning of the month, and a new budget to get it. It’s April 1st! My craft budget is now gone. I think that’s a record. I don’t think I’ve ever spent it all in one day on the first day of the month. They didn’t have a download for the Version 3, so I’ll have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. (Oh the drama! Violins playing in the background.) But they have tutorial videos. And once I watched those videos I knew that this was the kind of product I was looking for. Sooooo, I can hardly wait for this to show up in the mail. You’ll know once it does because I have photos waiting to be put into a sketch or some sort of layout. And you will probably see them all as I figure out what I am doing.

Enough about scrapbooking… what else have a been doing? Besides a lot, I’ve also been very interested in the Hillbilly Housewife’s web site. Her site is so applicable to the times. She currently has a Free Report entitled, “Cut Your Grocery Budget in Half“. Good stuff! She also has some menu ideas, like the Low Cost $70 Menu… complete with recipes, shopping list, & a guide for how to make the menu work. Good stuff. Oh, did I say that already? Any way, check it out if you get a chance.

Thanks for stopping by today. I look forward to sharing my scrapbook pages with you.

I love Hero Arts! They have so many great stamps, plus, they have blog. I have gotten many ideas from their card gallery too. Check it out if you get a chance…

iScrabook for MacBook Pro

Hello friends!

I have been terrible at blogging, but at least I have a good reason. :-) We’ve been decluttering and moving stuff around in our home. I now have more room in the house and have moved all my crafting supplies down to the family room. Right now it’s all in piles as I figure out where to put it.

However, this move has made me realize something. I have been wanting to scrapbook for… well honestly for 8 years now, since I gave birth to my oldest. I do have his baby book done, but that’s it. My other 2 children only each have a scrapbook done by their Grandma (and she did a fabulous job on all of them). Do you know why I don’t have any scrapbooking done? Honestly, I get overwhelmed! There are so many products out there, and half of the time I don’t know where to start with a page. At least I have found some great sketches out there to follow. But then I don’t want to get all the stuff out, and what if I’m missing something that’s key to the design? Then I need to go out and get it, or order it from somewhere. Ugh! It wasn’t supposed to be like this! It was supposed to be fun.

Then I started noticing digital scrapbook pages. I have to tell you, some of them are pretty impressive. Thus began my search to check out some software. I opened a new tab, clicked on my Google search engine and entered “Scrapbooking for Macintosh”. The first thing that popped up was iScrapbook. And it comes with a free 30 day Demo. How awesome is that? I can try it without spending the money and then decide if I like it. Let me tell you it was fun to play around. I spent way too much time making 1 page last night. But like I said, it was fun! :-)

Here it is, watermark and all…

new-page

Well? What do you think? I could probably add some journaling, but it was getting late. :-) And I can’t believe the price of the packages you can buy… $3, $6, or $12? That includes paper, buttons, brads, ribbon, eyelets, you name it! By the time I buy all that at a store I’ve spent $50… or more! So I’m going to play for the next month and see what I think. You will probably see most of my creations as I tinker around and figure out what I’m doing. :-D

Thanks for stopping by today,
Antoinette
